Another Matt Smith TARDIS

May 2011

My nephew Mark says he'd really like a model TARDIS. "What version?" I ask.  "Don't mind!" he says.  He's seen so many different episodes from different eras that he doesn't really have a TARDIS preference.  So I guess it's down to which one I fancy building myself.

I decide to do another Matt Smith one. Maybe it'll turn out better this time.  It certainly will if I can get another one of those "fresnel" lamps for it (the new TARDIS has gone back to the fresnel type of lamp, after almost 18 years).  I'll ask my friendly technician.

In the meantime, I make a start, intending to take this one nice and slow.  There's no hurry as Mark lives in Kent and I live near Nottingham, so I don't know when I'll be getting down again.

Then suddenly we get an invite to my neice's 21st...on the 10th of June, and I realise I have to get my skates on!

This time round I discover a damn fine "pebbled glass" substitute.  CO-OP milk cartons have a textured section of plastic just behind the handle.  Mostly curved, there's just enough "flat" plastic in a couple of 2-pinters (or a single 4-pinter) to make 16 pebbled lower window panes.  But it has to be CO-OP.  ASDA or TESCO will not do...

Once I get those annoying windows out of the way, and the box completely sealed, the build continues apace.
