Grays Wharf

Back

The area I used to know as "The Wharf" was an area of derelict wasteland full of factory ruins, with a solitary pub - "The Wharf" - and very little else.  Now it is a huge housing estate with the pub nestling in the middle, but back then it was a wonderland for kids.  Crumbling ruins, collapsed factory chimneys, a weird archway that led nowhere and enough nettles and brambles to send you home rashed and bleeding.

There was also an underground chamber that I later heard used to be a grain store.  The entrance was long gone, but you could still crawl in through a hole in the collapsed rubble and explore inside. You needed a torch, and God knows what would have happened if the hole had collapsed while you were in there, but you didn't think of things like that when you were 14, did you?
